Car repairs

My husband and I have had things really rough for the last 2 1/2 years. He had to go on disability. Severe arthritis is both hips. He gets social security and medicare. Our cost for the double hip replacement is $7000. When he lost his job, we lived on our savings, then my husband got his social security. By then our savings was gone. We have both had to declare bunkruptcy during this time. Our adjustable rate mortgage just adjusted. Up $250. We can't refinance for a fixed rate. Oh yeah, I inadvertantly brought bed bugs home.....OMG, what else could go wrong. That has cost us so much money. Then this week my car's clutch went out.
So we are dealing with one car. It would take about $1,000 to fix. We are both older, so our parents aren't around any longer. Our children are on their own, but not doing well enough to help us. I picked up a job on the week-ends delivering pizzas. We are trying so hard. We have pared back everything to the barest of bones. Can you help? It's tough for us to ask. In fact, my husband doesn't know I'm doing this. But I just don't know what to do?
